Voted most boring application by the International Association of Bologna Processors in 2002, this text editor - dare I say it - Plain Text Editor is stunningly pointless. Not only are there much better free alternatives available, such as BBEdit Lite, a perfectly capable text editor is bundled on each and every Mac, and yes virginia, TextEdit can do plain text.
And it’s REALBasic.
And Shareware.
“AlphaOmega Software”, you receive a 9.2.
Posted by jan at February 11, 2003 05:27 PM | TrackBacka 9.2? sheesh, this app is so bad that i don't want to see mac os 9.2 sullied by its ranking.
Posted by: mneptok on February 11, 2003 07:20 PMMy plain text needs no editing! I write it by shouting each character at my custom speech recognition unit, which is conveniently located under my sofa! And I never make mistakes!!
Now where are my soothing vocal lozenges??

They have an excellent Radio-controlled Helicopter Simulator!
ALPHAOMEGA SOFTWARE: THE BEST REVIEWS ON VERSION TRACKER.
1) BUGS
>Frame Rate wasn't fixed... WTF? This app sucks. The bug is the programmer.
>That software is a piece of crap. I've seen much crap from this company. To be honest, every single app sucks.
>This app actually makes it more difficult to translate pages than just going right to the translation site.
>Wishing for a [!] to alert moderators to offensively bad software.
>This is the buggiest software I have ever used. When you attempt to record mouse actions, and happen to click on the annoying shareware reminder, a serious error message appears. When you actually get to recording the system is dragged to a crawl and everything becomes unresponsive. I had high hopes for this application and have to say that it's terrible.
>Boo! Hiss! This product is lousy, lousy, lousy! It does nothing worthwhile, uses up gobs of cpu, and now it is shareware ?!? Give me a break! I wouldn't use it if I were paid to!
>Doesn't work. Saves only zero-byte files. Apparently the only person it works for is the developer, TheFairOne.
>The apps that I'm currently using for that purpose all have some deficiencies...but none of them are as deficient as this one. It simply doesn't work... AT ALL!
>Beware! Negative Feedback Deleted... Register this app at your own risk.
>Please, remove this app from Version Tracker, it does not work.
>See this icon, It come from some person from resexcellence, I guess the developer is thief.
2) USEFULNESS
>*Sigh*! Does AlphaOmega have research teams dedicated to finding what kinds of applications no one in their right mind would use and then proceed to sell them?
>Silly. I don't know why this developer even bother.
>Everyone's 1st realbasic project strikes again!
>I really have no idea why anyone in their right mind would want to use this????
>I'm ashamed to be a member of the mac community when someone has the audacity to sell useless software that is included in the operating system it runs on.
>This feature is just useless.
>The Universal Access Preference Pane already has this. Go to Universal Access, Keyboard, turn "Slow Keys" on, set the Acceptance Delay to Short and check the Use Click Key Sounds checkbox.
>Huh? there are so many other and free ways to do this i'm astounded... AlphaOmega Software wins the "Most Number of Useless Software Products" Eddy.
3) SHAMEWARE
>Author: how about getting your app to work before stuffing shareware reminders in our faces.
>Ridiculous... charging money for that feature, charging money for an hopelessly bloated code. Bad as their other software/attitudes.
>Shareware? Are you serious? I've just discovered a way to access these same amazingly powerful features, but for free. Just to go Preferences/Network/PPP Options and you'll find options for disconnecting after x number of minutes, and have it warn you as well.
>Shareware why? Erm, this isn't really useful. Why would I want to pay for it? Why doesn't the author try writing useful software that people want to use, that they'd have a reason to use?
>I made an AppleScript for my "home use" that does the same thing... so why should I give you money?
4) SPAMMING
>@spamming french: What silly *diot! Showing only lowest level software, beeing greedy to even charge money for them and best of all, abusing the reviews for his other crap.
>Pascal CHIOTASSO = Fu**ing spammer.
>Anyone notice that THE FAIR ONE only rates AlphaOmega stuff and gives ALL 20+ of their products glowing 5-star reports? VERY SUSPICIOUS... especially when MOST other ratings are ONE star.
>Crap. Useless and bloated. Oh, and TheFairOne happens to be the developer of this junk. Check all the other AlphaOmega products. You'll find multiple five-star ratings from him on most of the products.
>TheFairOne? Haha ... anyone looked at TheFairOne's feedback history? He only reviews products by AlphaOmega Software and only gives 5-star reviews. Very fair indeed.
>It gets better. The author actually emails developers of other software pretending to be someone else and begging them to make their software compatible with his crappy extended software updater application. It's so pathetic.
>Enough already, TheFairOne. Everyone here knows who you are. You even make the same stupid English grammatical mistakes as the author.
5) THE FAIR ONE ... wrote 35 full 5-stars "reviews" for AlphaOmega. To our everlasting grief, he passed into history when VT staff deleted all his posts due to complaints.

A must have!!! Really!!!
6) JOKES
>Oh God! Under product description there are about 12 lines of IT does this and IT does that. How about just saying IT is a joke, right? This is a joke isn't it? Went to the website to make sure it was a joke, but apparently it's not supposed to be. There are about 15 programs for 5 bucks apiece. I'm pretty sure this is a joke...isn't it?
>Joke it is! Joke it is yes but it is not a real short one don't bother with this and waste your time... it does not do any of its claims.
>Rubbish! What a joke, would would pay for this!
>As shareware this is a joke, but nobody takes AlphaOmega software seriously anyway.
>Old Joke... This whole AlphaOmega software joke is getting old. And it wasn't a very good joke to begin with.
I hate to admit this, but I actually sent Pascal what's-his-name $45. Then he never sent me the link to download the 'software,' which I don't want anymore. I asked him to refund the money. Apparently it's not just my imagination that this guy is a fraud. I'd like to wring his reptilian neck.
