Safari Toolkit 1.8

How I loath the multitude of Safari “Enhancers” out there. Their uselessness on a scale of 1 to 11 is exceeded only by their sheer numbers. A search on Versiontracker reveals over 40 results related to Safari, many of which duplicate functions found in many other programs. Out of the many possible choices then, why was this “software” singled out for ridicule?

Because Safari Toolkit 1.8 is the most poorly conceived and executed pancake of them all, that is why. We’ll start things off with an analysis of the installation process. Installation takes place through an installer package, whose only function is to copy a folder to your Applications folder. The package, furthermore, is contained on a disk image, which is in turn contained in a .sit archive. This mish-mash of packaging only serves to frustrate users more than a ravenous dog watching a documentary on slaughterhouses.

If, dear reader, you succeed in installing the software, you are confronted with a folder containing a shell script and (horror of horrors!) more installer packages. Each of the packages performs one modification to Safari, and of course must have a corresponding package to reverse the modification. The shell script enables Safari’s Debug menu, a function for which there are extreme numbers of programs to do.

How this made it to 1.8 without being stoned to death I can not fathom.

ScifienceStudios, since Safari Toolkit does perform several debatably useful functions, poorly executed as they may be, you only earn a 6.2.

Bump that up to an 8 (at least!) for all the *&^%$#@ popups on their pages. (Yes, I'm still using IE.) I haven't seen that many popups on one page since I *ahem* accidentally went to a porn site once.

Why must you pick on those of us who enjoy enhancing Yogurt? We know that you 'smart people' find Yogurt acceptable in its 'unenhanced' state, and so do we 'yogurt elite', but can't you just live and let live? Why do you continue to spread the misconceptions that lead to seperation and degradation of our yogurt? We want only to use enhanced features of Yogurt... Is that so WRONG???

This guy says his "platinum" product requires Safari v62 or higher. The most recent release of Safari is v60. Add a point please.

Please add three more points, as the "make Aqua" package and "remove Aqua" package are, in fact, one and the same.
